Screen Printing Silk Screen 18 x 15 Inches
Manufactured in Australia to a high standard with silk
mesh appropriate for paper or fabric (43T). Made from Maple and
stainless steel staples (wood is pine in the economical silk screen
set); if required the frames can be restretched with silk and recycled
making for a longer life and therefore more economical. The equivalent
of the printing plate for the screen printer is the silk screen - a
wooden frame with a fine silk mesh stretched over it. The substrate to
be printed is placed in position under the screen. Ink is placed on the
top side of the screen. The frame also acts as wall to contain the ink. A
rubber blade gripped in a wooden handle called a Squeegee is pulled across the top of the screen. The
ink is pushed through the mesh onto the surface you are printing on.
