About the Wandjina:

The Wandjina is a sacred icon to 3 groups of Kimbelry Indigenous people. The tradition is a living culture which has been extimated to be over 15,000 years old, making it the world's oldest unbroken art tradition. The Wandjina has enjoyed a resurgence since it was used representationally by Donny Woolagoodja at the opening ceremony for the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

About Julie:

Julie is a Ngaranyin Woman, who is painting stories passed on to her by her father. Julie grew up and lives and paints in the Kimberley.

About the Painting:

Julie painted this painting in 2011 it is an interesting departure from her Wandjina Art, but still culturally strong as its represtantive of the animals and nature associated with the Wandjina. The canvas is 880 x 680mm. Julie has writting the story and her details on the rear of the work.
