I kept a travel blog as we went, so if you require further prompting to go take a look. African Safari Read more

2011 April Art House Post

2011 April Art House Post

With the Australian dollar sitting historically high at $1.04, there is a very high probability that the majority of our subscribers will be heading off to Bali for a bit or R&R within the next few months. Our framing service has seen an increasing number of Bali paintings brought in for re-stretching. Most of these paintings have been painted on calico and not canvas, which results in the painting not re-stretching well, nor are they likely to survive for more than a couple of years.  We've developed some tips for potential buyers to help in choosing a good quality painting on canvas and avoiding calico. If you are interested the tips are in the last paragraph of this newsletter.

Art Collectors

We have recently upgraded our online presence and now have some stunning Kimberley art on line. We still represent Mark Norval, one of the Kimberley's most successful and collectible artists as well as having access to some fantastic Indigenous art.

We currently have 3 rare works online, 2 from Lily Karadada, both circa 2000. If you would like to take a look at these works, you will find them on the third line down of page one in the Wandjina Paintings Catalogue.
The third rare work is from Ashley Oobagooma, one of the Wandjina Artists from Mowanjum. We have a very early abstract work from this artist, the work itself is not unlike the work being done by Elizabeth Duraks alter ego, Eddie Burrup.

However there are many other works of interest on the site and you might like to simply browse our Kimberley Art Catalogue

2011 Feburary Art House Post

2011 Feburary Art House Post

G.K. Chesterton once said "Art, like morality, consists in drawing the line somewhere." A clever wordsmith was Gilbert. In this edition of the Art House Post we draw the line at overly long and rambling newsletters.  Here's our offering for February short and sharp. Hope you find it useful.

ARTIST IN FOCUS:

This month we're introducing a new and emerging artist from Broome. Lisa Grey, is from Thangoo Station just south of Broome and captures a spirit and  vibrancy of the Kimberley that only comes from being part of a multi-generational Kimberley station family. Lisa has enjoyed some very early success in her painting career and has already become well sought after. You can read more about Lisa here, and view her work here

However as we have over 4,000 line items this will take some time to complete. You will also notice that we have added a Live Support chat facility to the website. So if you require product information or advice you can recieve it in real time. We'd be very keen to get your feedback on our online store, so if you have used it, or browsed it, please tell us about it by taking our online survey.
