Mark Norval's work, Contemplation raised $8,400 for the 2013 Oper-Arte' auction. The money will be used to supply musical instruments to schools in the West Kimberley. 

Oper-Arte' an initiative of Opera Under the Stars celebrated its 10 year milestone on 29 August 2013. Each year Oper-Arte invites an artist to participate by holding an exhibition of work in conjunction with Opera and donating one piece for auction. 

Mark Norval, the Kimberley's most awarded artist was delighted to be invited to be the 2013 Oper-Arte artist. 

Mark spoke of the impact that youth suicide has had on him after 32 years of work as a teacher and mentor with Aboriginal children. His speech was so inspiring that while his work Contemplation reached $3,800 at auction, people donated an additional $4,600 to the initiative.
